Your Phoenix Park Pictures and Stories

We want to hear YOUR Phoenix Park stories. Do you have a photo and a story behind it? Do you have more than one? Send them to us with your story and we will put them up on this page.

You could have been born and raised minutes from the park, live near one of its gates now, or live on the other side of the world and have had the opportunity to visit this beautiful place. You could have also found an old photo in the bottom of a drawer of some individuals in 1930s attire seating at the Victorian Tea Kiosk and found out all about them. If it’s about the Phoenix park, we want to know! This is your space.

You can send us digital copies of your pictures and your stories to: citywild [at] whackala.com

One of the film’s participants, Brendan Costello, who’s supporting the documentary in more ways that one, has found these invaluable photos of his and his family’s personal and professional experiences from their life inside the Phoenix Park.

He’s generously sharing these mementos with the fans of City Wild.

Helen Shaw of Athena Media, has lived close to the park for the past 12 years (on one side or the other). She made this short doc “Chi Running” a few years ago featuring champion athlete Caitríona McKiernan, and how then Chi method improved her running and prevented physical injury. Caitríona is also a phoenix park neighbour and go’s running in the park regularly

City Wild crew member Andrey Andonov is a keen chi runner or so he tells us, we will get him to give us a demonstration for the DVD extras.

Kite flying, summer 2009. Paul and Leticia with friends Liz and Michael (code name Fanta) try some kite flying in the park -with not much success! we can blame the kites, the changeable wind  or maybe it was the handlers… there was some moments of actual kite flying before the rain made its appearance:

Paul and Fanta get started:

Fanta’s kite starts to go up…

… but then he falls into a ditch.

Paul and Leticia struggle to get their kites going.

Leticia and Liz take a break:

Success for Fanta!

That’s the way to do it…

Success for Liz too.

Paul’s kite takes off with force …not really.

And it starts to rain…
